DDR4 and DDR5 are different memory generations
DDR4 and DDR5 modules are not interchangeable. Your motherboard or laptop determines which generation you can install.
What to check
- Memory generation
- Desktop DIMM or laptop SO-DIMM form factor
- Supported capacity
- Supported frequency
- Motherboard or laptop compatibility
Before upgrading
Check your system manual and existing memory configuration before purchasing a module. Do not choose DDR5 simply because it has a higher advertised frequency if your system only supports DDR4.
