M.2 SSD Compatibility Guide
M.2 describes a physical form factor, not one single storage interface. An M.2 slot may support SATA, PCIe NVMe or both depending on the platform.
Check the M.2 key
M.2 drives and slots use different keying arrangements. Check your motherboard or laptop documentation before purchasing a drive.
Check the physical length
M.2 2280 is widely used, but compact systems can support shorter modules. Confirm the supported length for your device.
M.2 SATA vs M.2 NVMe
M.2 SATA uses the SATA storage interface, while M.2 NVMe uses PCIe. They are not automatically interchangeable even though both are M.2 drives.

Browse by PCIe generation
After checking your system compatibility, compare PCIe Gen 3 SSDs, PCIe Gen 4 SSDs and PCIe Gen 5 SSDs. You can also read our SSD Buying Guide or use the Upgrade Finder before choosing.
